Connecting music and the world in a synesthetic wayTakashi Iura & Sachiyo Oshima (artists)
Over the last few years, we have been assembling images inspired by natural forms and environments. On a technical level, we are analyzing data and utilizing programming software, but the intuitive images emerging without advanced notice—the trigger for starting to create work—are given priority over everything. Perhaps a synesthetic code comes about in order to perceive what we cannot understand with the established aesthesia codes when trying to grasp the environment that surrounds humanity. We think a work becomes interesting if it is reminiscent of this sensibility, whether the final form of the work be music or video.
